The Night of the Stars

The Night of the Stars, which is celebrated on August 10, is one of the most magical evenings of the year, dedicated to the observation of shooting stars, the Perseids. This astronomical phenomenon, commonly known as Tears of San Lorenzo, offers a suggestive show in the summer sky, with dozens of meteors crossing the atmosphere, lighting it up for a few moments. According to popular tradition, making a wish while seeing a shooting star brings good luck. Many enthusiasts gather in places far from light pollution to enjoy the view at its best, between events, guided observations and evenings spent outdoors. It is a perfect time to rediscover the charm of the sky and be enchanted by the mystery of the universe!

Destinations you can choose

Milky Way

Millions of stars and infinite galaxies full of fascination and mystery, dark matter and energies yet to be known.

While sending messages, with Star Bottle®, we will be able to approach the stars, launching our message, towards the heart of our galaxy: Milky Way.

In fact, our planet and our solar system belong to the Milky Way,a Barred Spiral Galaxythat boasts an immense size for us. The estimated age of the Milky Way is 13.7 billion years.

The name Milky Way, derived from the Greek word for the faint whitish 'milky'lattiginoso” che attraversa diagonalmente la sfera gialla, formata dalle stelle e dalle nebulose situate nel disco galattico stesso.

Many film sagas and science fiction novels have centred on our galaxy, today it is you who write your own unique, exclusive, universal message!

Vega

It is the second brightest star visible from the Northern Hemisphere and shines like a diamond in the summer sky. It is located 26 light-years away from Earth, which means that messages sent toward it can arrive while the sender is still alive. It is a young star, larger than the Sun, showing an infrared excess, a sign of the presence of dust and a possible planetary system in formation. A planet may have already formed around it. It has the advantage of being easily recognizable in the summer sky (it is part of the so-called “Summer Triangle” along with Deneb and Altair), and in the Eastern myth of Tanabata, it represents the princess, daughter of the Emperor of Heaven, who weaves the colors of dawn and dusk. She falls in love with a young shepherd, represented by the nearby star Altair, but their love is opposed by their parents, particularly the mother, who drives a comb into the sky, digging a trench (the Milky Way) between the two stars, soon turning into an impassable raging river. The two lovers can only meet on the seventh night of the seventh month, when the crescent Moon, shaped like a little boat, creates a bridge between the two stars so they can cross the celestial river. Tanabata is the Eastern festival during which colorful strips of paper (“tanzaku”) are hung on bamboo branches, each bearing a human wish, as it is the night when the wish of the two star-crossed lovers to reunite comes true. In the context of strengthening the Star Bottle project, July 7th (the date when Tanabata is celebrated in the West—though in the East it follows a lunar calendar, so the alignment is not exact) could become a very interesting date for the user base in China and Japan, the two countries where the festival is most celebrated.

Titan

Saturn’s largest moon is the second-largest satellite in the Solar System and is bigger than the planet Mercury. Among the moons of the Solar System, only Ganymede (Jupiter’s main moon) is larger.

Titan has a very dense atmosphere—one and a half times that of our planet—mainly composed of nitrogen, like that of primordial Earth. The most fascinating feature is the abundance of methane which, at the moon’s average temperature (-180 °C), exists in all three states: solid, liquid, and gas. This means that Titan has methane rocks (!) and, most notably, that methane liquefies—there are lakes and rivers on the surface in which liquid methane flows. As it evaporates, it causes methane rainfalls. Thus, a “methane cycle” exists on Titan, just as the water cycle exists on Earth.

Beneath its surface, it is possible that a liquid water ocean flows, making it a very interesting body in terms of the potential presence of microorganisms and the existence of simple forms of life.
