Star Bottle joins the’The Gaslini Institute in Genoa, through its participatory foundation Gaslininsieme, For a special initiative dedicated to children staying at the paediatric hospital: today, 6 December 2024, the young patients enjoyed a unique day, sending personal images and messages to the stars.
During the event, Star Bottle has distributed 100 Gift Card, allowing children to send their messages into deep space, converted into binary code, the language used for interstellar communications. The ward teachers handed out the cards to the young patients, who were delighted at the opportunity to see their thoughts and dreams take flight towards the stars. These messages will be included in the next space launch, scheduled for 21st December 2024, on the occasion of the Winter Solstice.
The morning was enriched by a special meeting in the Gaslini playroom, where 10 children had the opportunity to talk with Walter Riva, editor-in-chief of the scientific journal Cosmo 2050, and Francesco Massardo, journalist for Cosmo 2050 and presenter of Giornale Radio. During the meeting, the children explored the world of astronomy and reflected on the importance of sending a message into space, opening themselves up to the wonders of the universe.
The event was documented and reported with in-depth analysis and interviews on the Giornale Radio and Cosmo 2050 magazine platforms.
Domenico Zambarelli, editor of Giornale Radio and head of Star Bottle, commented on the initiative as follows: “The purity and power of these children's thoughts remind us how important it is to look beyond, towards new horizons. We hope that these messages will carry their dreams and positive hope into space, like a bridge between Earth and the stars. It has been an exciting experience, and we wish the young patients a bright and peaceful future.”.
“We would like to thank Star Bottle for choosing to support Gaslini with such an innovative and unique project. Initiatives like this reflect the spirit of Gaslininsieme: creating special opportunities for our young patients and their families, turning every day into a gesture of concrete solidarity.” commented Gaslininsieme Secretary General Anna Zanuttini.
What is Star Bottle?
Star Bottle is the first service in the world that allows anyone to send messages into deep space. The process is simple and accessible: choose the content of the message (text, photo, video or a combination of these), select the destination from those available and the launch date. The Star Bottle team converts the message into binary code and sends it – thanks to M3SAT/Telespazio technology, with the authorisation of the Italian Government (MIMIT) – to its destination in the infinite universe. Each message sent will be confirmed by a launch certificate. The next launch, scheduled for 21 December 2024, will have the following destinations: Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, Sagittarius A*, the centre of our galaxy, Europe, one of Jupiter's moons. A unique experience that connects our world to the universe.
