STAR BOTTLE®
The Technical Project
Star Bottle® is the first project in the world to democratise space messaging, bringing the cosmos closer and turning space communication into an accessible experience for all.
Deep Space Transmission takes place on the frequency 2115 MHz, within the band S, a range commonly used for satellite and interplanetary communications.
This frequency was awarded by MIMIT (Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy) to Star Bottle®. for a period of 20 years, making the project one of the few civil initiatives authorised to operate permanently on space band.
The transmission infrastructure is developed in cooperation with M3Sat, European telecommunications operator, and with Telespazio, a company of the Leonardo Group, an international leader in space services.
The physical transmission of signals occurs through a 11-metre dish located at the Fucino Space Centre, in the heart of Italy, one of Europe's most important hubs for satellite and interplanetary communications.
Each message is converted to binary code (sequence of 0 and 1), the universal mathematical language adopted by NASA and SETI since 1984, for communications to Deep Space, and modulated at 9.95 kHz for emission. This modulation allows the signal to travel through interplanetary space, passing the limits of the Earth's atmosphere and propagating through the solar system.
For each launch we choose a new destination and you can choose which type of message to send on each occasion (text, photo, video).
Each transmission is accompanied by a Certificate of Launch, an official document reporting the date and time of the message sent, certifying its actual radio emission from the Fucino Space Centre. Fucino Space Centre.
